Hugknees

Today I lost my head and I screamed it off.
Today I lost my head because I screamed it off.

Sometimes, even when you put in effort and perseverance, your reward comes in the form of disappointment.

I've seriously tried my best. But it seems that wasn't enough.

Yet I'm going to try even harder because everything will turn out fine.

Straight as an iron. A ruler. A noodle.

I am not really a big fan of competitions. Or rather, the rationale of competitions. To compete, whether you're representing the school or competing against yourself.

Why must there be a "best" or only one "winner"? In the first place, there is no "best". There is only "better".

Well I guess that would be considered the spirit of sportsmanship, or challenging your own abilities? I doubt I have a say.

But what really nullifies the purpose of competitions is how people have the tendency to assume they are "good enough". Shouldn't there be the desire to improve?

No matter how good or bad you are, shouldn't everyone always expect more from themselves? Or is it I, foolish and overly-optimistic, who actually believes people who say anyone can achieve goals with enough determination and effort?

The Termly Comedy

Apparently, I am perceived to be
"well-behaved",
"intelligent and perceptive",
and to have a "clear writing style".

HAHA. Such true, encouraging words.

I am such a Little Miss Half-glass-full!

"Where's Bill in the f*ing recession?"

Apparently I am a hot favourite target for slimy-fingered thieving societal scum. I hope the people who stole my stuff get robbed by Robin Hood (or LKY, both would be awesome) and drown in guilt (or camel vomit, both would be awesome).

Uninspired literature

The Corrupted Animal

I am an elephant
Trumpeting
Trampling across the plain
With my herd, searching for
Moral values.

I am a dolphin
Clicking
Dancing in the pools of Ocean Park
While my keepers feed me
Fresh gossip.

I am a llama
Llama-ing
My favourite colours are baby pink, blue and green
Colours of tender young
Marshmallows.

I am a mole
Digging
Frolicking in the dirt of a gold mine
Hoping for a golden encounter with
Chicken McNuggets.

An uninspired poem by yours truly. I am so good at creating pointless things.

(What do llamas do anyway?)

I realise...

I love extremely unhealthy food.

My favourite foodie haunts below. Don't worry, these aren't those horrible recommendations by lousy Channel 8 TV shows. But most of the time you have to try it for yourself (I suggest 2-4pm to avoid long queues).

1) Outram Park Fried Char Kway Teow (Hong Lim Square Food Court)
Great balance between sweet and savoury. Probably very fattening but doesn't have that sickening oily taste. Has the special fragrance that spells good fire control (wok hei). Comes with the ever-rare crispy fried pork lard(!!!!!).
Price: $2.50 per plate

2) Blanco Court Fish Soup (along Beach Road)
The highlight is the soup; solid yet light. The glug-worthy soup is vastly different from most others -- the use of garlic is subtle, almost absent, hence no masking of the freshness of the fish. The normal, un-fried fish is sweet with great texture while the fried fish is slightly drier but more tasty. For vegetables they offer bitter gourd and this cross between spinach and watercress (don't know the English name for it), which slide down the throat like noodles. You have the choice of adding evaporated milk (I prefer it with milk). Love the deep-fried egg.
Price: About $3-4, depending on the combination of fish/noodles/rice you ask for.

3) Selegie Laksa (erm, somewhere around Selegie Road)
Spoon laksa that beats the brands (especially Katong, hands down). Lots of belachan. There is something about laksa that's indescribable.
Price: $cannotremember

4) Putu Piring (Banquet Food Court at Geylang Serai, currently under renovation)
If you like tutu kueh, the putu piring here is approximately 6 million times better than any tutu kueh you'll ever eat. Made on the spot. Lovely when piping hot. I love gula melakaaa.
Price: $alsocannotremember

I love food a lot ):

Lifeskills camp was totally destroyed by the rain. I have severe muscleaches now. Short but good sleep though.
