Happy Birthday!

To my mum :D

And Lim Ee Wen! (展翅高飞!) Thanks for organising the gathering yesterday! Cherie too!

I'm looking at the conductor's score for 渐快的凉风and it's like seeing the music in a new light.

---

o____o Brit accents.

"Fathering"

Haha, "fathering", Cherie!

The 6I gathering-cum-birthday celebration for Ee Wen was great (: Finally got to catch up with the class, after missing the one in June. The turn-out was pretty good, and we (kind of) interacted. And I learnt how to play mahjong, though I still don't get the rules behind splitting the tiles and all .__. Well, not a skill to be used often in the future anyway.

---

I recently realised that I have a really odd skin colour. Not fair like Selegie tau huay (which is still one of my favourite stalls, the you tiao... mmm). Not dark like roasted chestnuts. Somewhere in the middle. Somewhat fruit-ish. Like, between longan and semi-ripe kemquat. (Whaaat?)

In a nutshell, YELLOW. (Wow, shocker.) Okay, maybe green.

I need some serious sun.

To console myself in the meantime, I can say I got a little tanner over the years. I used to be snow-white (colour, not the ugliest Disney princess). And there's quite a visible ankle sock tanline. I shall really find an empty weekend and sit in the sun all day.

I need to stick to home-packed food for the next 3 years...

To pay off my debts (my mum) for the tickets. S:

Yes, I bought $90 worth of tickets in two weeks. But no guilt felt, because it's worth it (I hope)!

Anyway, I'm looking for a dialect tutor! Conversational Cantonese or Teochew or Hokkien. (: Hong Kong dramas don't work because I keep reading the subtitles in the end. I can pretty much understand what people say but I can't utter a proper sentence. .__.

---

The cast and crew of Boom (:
From Chermaine Ang's blog (front row, 3rd from right). She had to pull off multiple roles and crazily quick costume changes, and seemed to do so with such ease O: I love her cantonese auntie role, she totally reminded me of my aunt (who is really very, well, aunty. She hurt her face while playing Wii sports)!

---

I recently chanced upon the soundtrack of Forbidden City: Portrait of an Empress and have a sudden appreciation for Dick Lee's music! I went for the 3rd re-run of the musical in 2006 and it was really impressive. The two record keepers were lovable crowd-pleasers! They're an excellent team with great voices, and you can sense the chemistry through their cheeky dialogue.

M18 content (heck, you're scrolling down anyway):

...

(This is sung but the lyrics are hilarious)
RK 1: A happy emperor, makes a very happy city
RK 2: and a very happy concubine!
RK 1: As everyone could hear,
RK 2: every night,
RK 1: every single night,
RK 2: sometimes twice a night!
RK 1: --Are you sure you've got that right?
Both: For three months!

RK 2: Life is a balance between yang and yin,
RK 1: and to build an emperor's yang, he requires a lot of yin
RK 1: And the best way for that to happen was for him to engage in a lot of ___ with concubines and I mean, a, lot!
RK 2: But without firing his cannon!

Get me to send you the recording. (:

PURDY PLEASE

Must watch! Will watch! Will even use angpow money in bank account!

Another Crazy Christmas! Featuring Singapore's beloved singers and thespians (:

There's a student discount but still pricey. ): $55 for Category 1, $49 for Category 2. Greedy me wants to watch on 21 Dec so it doesn't clash with Wild Rice's production, so Sebsatian Tan will perform live instead over webcam, hopefully. (I wonder how he'll change from *cough* drag queen to ah beng backstage anyway?)

Wait, what if he doesn't perform at all on that day 0.0 That would suck. But contrary to ever-drunk Xi Jing's belief, it's not all about ONE performer okay -__________-

Looking for concert kakis! If not I'll be boring and go with my family haha :D

Art thou inspired?

Only 3 subjects to go! The papers have been pretty okay so far I guess. I just hope that the setters for the coming papers will be as merciful.

Tomorrow will be an incredible mind workout. Math and advanced literature. /:

Meanwhile I am enjoying my dose of painkillers and antibiotics (for my ear -__-) which make me feel strangely groggy.

On the bright side, we chemistry-physics people have a break on Friday (: I'm going to sleep for 10 hours (or more)!

And I got my tickets for the Wild Rice pantomime already! Catergory 1 on opening night. *Excited* Hahah Li En and Xi Jing (the slave) think that Sebastian Tan in drag is pretty. o___o Actually he really does look like a female in the pamphlet. Well, uh, that shows what a versatile actor he is I guess. Nevertheless this year's production looks pretty promising, tickets are selling quite fast. Hopefully there won't be screaming kids in the audience (most annoying after backrest-kickers).

Ooh Dream Academy's Another Crazy Christmas is coming too (: Look at the ensemble! Yum.

By the way, Xi Jing, focus on getting the backstage pass and/or autograph now yeah (:

NOOO D:

I AM ADDICTED TO (some) NATIONAL DAY SONGS. (Yes, what?!)

By some I mean those with really good singers, not bubblegum pop. (Fann Wong, 2000, eew)

The music video for the 2007 one (the ensemble) was quite well done. You can tell that most, if not all, of the singers are quite professional.

Okay focus on physics and math now, you!
