Post-jetlag
Okay let's try to recap...
What I learnt in the US
1) The weather in California is really lovely.
2) The people are friendlier, which somehow compels you to be more sociable and smile more.
3) Operation Travis members are very weird. Valentia is a manic shopaholic. Michelle never buys anything. Sarah likes revealing her midriff in public. Jacquelyn likes G. I. Joe. Meiqi is a closet perv. Ziyan makes very clever observations about Tellytubbies.
4) Most of the colleges are really into school spirit and have incredible campuses. And they're very much into being all-rounded, which sounds pretty appealing to me.
5) Disneyland is magical. Seriously! Behind all that commercialism, there is something really great about Walt Disney's success in bringing everlasting entertainment to the world.
6) Contrary to common belief, there were VERY few McDonald's shops in California (well, in San Francisco and LA, at least). The most widespread F&B chain was Starbucks. Yes. Starbucks is the next evil empire. There were more Starbucks shops than McDonald's and Burger King combined.
7) The first thing the local students ask us is, "Can you guys chew gum in Singapore?" The answer is yes. We can chew gum. But you can't import it. In the US there are little black spots on the ground everywhere. That's chewing gum caked with dirt.
Evidently, my memory fails me. Oh well!
